Round 4 – Veterans XI
With 3 rounds to go the 3rd XI remain undefeated and clear on top of the ladder after their comfortable win against Ocean Ridge. Chasing the target of 122 they made it with 5 wickets in hand and plenty of overs to spare. A good all round bowling performance saw all 6 bowlers used take wickets with Matt Hunter (2/17) and Jacob Paolino (2/25) taking multiple poles. 100 gamer Leon Armenti (46) and Cameron Belser (25no) making sure of the run chase.
A crucial win for the 1st XI against North Perth puts them in a relatively safe position in 6th spot on the ladder and 2 games out of 4th spot with 3 rounds to go. Batting first, they managed to get to a defendable 184 of which was too much for North Perth to chase who were bowled out for 145. Heshan Perera (54), Ricardo de Nobrega (42) and Josh Giacoppo (24) the top run scorers. With the ball, Jerra Smith (3/22), Marco Krebl (2/23) and Lochlan White (2/29) did most of the damage.
In the 2nd XI game, Ocean Ridge managed 8/149 off their 40 overs. Hassan Khadim (3/19) and Joel Handford (2/20) the main wicket takers. The target was reached with 4 wickets in hand and 6 overs to spare with Callum Allan (53), Joel Handford (43no) and Ben Allan (28) making sure of the win. That win consolidates the 2nd XI in 4th spot and opens up a 2 game buffer to Swanbourne in 5th spot.
Murdoch University Melville were too good for the 4th XI in their Round 11 match going down by 6 wickets. Batting first, the 4th XI managed to post a defendable total after being 7/75 reaching 9/141 off their 40 overs. Troy Rudrum (63no) the anchor of the winnings. The bowlers toiled hard but were unable to inflict any damage to the opposition run chase. With 6 rounds to go the 4th XI remain in 5th position and only Net Run Rate out of 4th spot.
Chasing 4/211, the Veterans XI put up a gallant effort, but the total was too much to chase going down by 48 runs in their match today against Joondalup. Faraz Mahmood (33), Justin Thomson (32) and Angelo Monastra (28) were the top scorers with the bat. Fawad Mahmood (2/33) the pick of the bowlers.

🏏 WEEKEND RESULTS 🏏
** DE NOBREGA RETURNS AND LEADS 1ST XI TO CRUCIAL WIN **
** Saturday, 11 January 2025 **
Round 8 – 1st, 2nd and 3rd XI
Round 10 – 4th XI
After 6 years playing in WA Premier Cricket and a delayed return, Ricardo de Nobrega used his experience and level head to lead the 1st XI to a crucial win against top of the ladder Swanbourne. Chasing 6/186, the 1st XI was in trouble at 4/55 before Ricardo de Nobrega (75no) and Captain Jerra Smith (59) put on a 107 partnership to do enough to reach the total with 3 wickets in hand. Ben Panter (3/30) and Lochlan White (2/54) doing most of the damage with the ball.
Restricting their opponents to 8/144, the 2nd XI was at one stage 4/45 in their run chase before consolidating in the middle order to get the target with 2 wickets in hand. Matt Hill (37) and Damian Lepidi (30) steadying the ship and making sure of the win. Earlier, Damian Lepidi (3/19) and Matt Hill (3/24) both again highlights with the ball this time. That win puts a one game buffer between the 2nd XI in 4th spot and Swanbourne in 5th spot on the ladder.
The undefeated 3rd XI kept their record in tact with a hard fought win against 2nd placed Western Suburbs. Batting first, the 2nd XI was in dire straits at 6/48 and looking at defending a small total before Ben Allan(69) and Henri Werndly (32) came together to put on a 91 run partnership to help their side reach a competitive 8/189 of their 40 overs. The total was too much for Western Suburbs who could only manage 129. Milan Krebl (3/16), Matt Hunter (2/21) and Henri Werndly (2/33) were the multiple wicket takers.
The 4th XI was unable to keep their winning streak going with a loss against their opponent Kalamunda. Batting first, they posted a respectable 4/160 off their 40 overs. AJ Singh (47) and Darren Mullooly (29no) highlights with the bat. Kalamunda were too good in the end only losing the 2 wickets in reaching the target required.
