** 1ST XI WIN 1ST GRADE ONE DAY GRAND FINAL **
** Sunday, 25 February 2024 **
After being runners up last year, the 1st XI have made amends and taken out the 2023/24 1st Grade One Day Grand Final.
Winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Bentley managed to post a competitive 161 off 39.5 overs. At one stage they were 7/98 and looking down the barrel of defending a low score. Jamie Rudrum 3/33, Ben Panter 2/28 and Gaurav Tiwari 2/29 the pick of the bowlers.
It wasn't a good start with the run chase losing two early wickets and being 2/3. Alex Chao (45) and Heshan Perera (36) steadied the ship and swung things our way. 2 more quick wickets in succession followed but in came Jamie Rudrum (39no) and Captain Jerra Smith (27) to put us on the right path. Jamie making sure of it in the end and taking the Man of the Match award with his 39no & 3/33.
Congratulations to all and thanks for everyone who came down to support the boys. We certainly outnumbered their supporters on their home ground. 👏👏🎉🐾
** WEEKEND RESULTS – GRAND FINAL **
** 4TH XI PREMIERS IN A THRILLER **
** GRAND FINAL - 4th XI **
** Saturday, 23 March 2024 **
It was built up as an equal match up and expected to be a ripper of a Grand Final. Expectations were met with the result decided in the last over of the day.
Captain Milan Krebl won the toss and elected to bat first. A couple of early wickets saw the 4th XI at 2/19 losing Troy Rudrum and Jayden Monastra early. In came Jamie Rudrum (29) and Simon Chaplin (35) who steadied the ship somewhat before Jamie was out, caught with the score at 50. Shane Hardingham (40) joined Simon Chaplin and put on 40 together before Chaplin was dismissed. Another 45-run partnership between Hardingham and Milan Krebl (22) saw them eventually post a reasonable and defendable total of 160 off their 40 overs.
Was it going to be enough?
Bassendean’s opening bat and captain Ben O’Brien was the key wicket to get with 971 runs for the season at an average of 74.69. Shaun Hickey (2/24) got that key wicket with O’Brien out for 1. Jayden Monastra taking a good catch with a hard hit ball at mid-on. Another wicket by Shaun and a run out by Jamie & Shaun together saw Bassendean reeling at 3/11.
Bassendean managed to steady the ship before veteran Boris Krebl (2/23) took 2 crucial wickets late in his spell to have them at 5/97. Jamie pitched in with another and Bassendean were now 6/102. At 6/150, Bassendean seemed to be cruising to a win before Milan Krebl got the crucial wicket and Jacob Paolino another not long after in the penultimate over. At 8/151, Bassendean needed 9 runs to win in the last over with 2 wickets in hand. Jason Pynes denied them bowling a superb last over with a run out (Milan Krebl) and a caught and bowled to finish the game off.
The 4th XI making amends for the last 2 seasons and winning the Premiership. Man of the Match was Jamie Rudrum with his 29, 1/36 and a run out. The win was even more special with 2 x Father/Sons winning together with Boris/Milan Krebl and Troy/Jamie Rudrum.
Congratulations to the 4th XI and thanks to all for coming down to support the boys.

Vale - Annette Simons
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Life Member Annette Simons, who left us yesterday after a prolonged battle with illness. 😢
A Mother figure to many, Nettie was an integral part of our Club. She served as the 1st XI Official Team Scorer for many years and held the position of Club Treasurer during the 1997/98 to 2000/01 seasons, and again in 2004/05 and 2007/08. Nettie was also honoured as the Best Club Person for the 2007/08 season.
Our Club would not be what it is today without her contributions.
We extend our deepest condolences to her husband Dougie and her family.
RIP Nettie 💔
Congratulations to one of our wonderful volunteers, Blossom Clark, who has put together and published some of her fabulous recipes - The Mama Moose Family Cookbook. She will be launching the book at the club this Saturday (29 June) between 3pm -6pm.
Please feel free to come down to purchase a copy and sample treats from the book.🍲🥮🥧
