** 1ST XI WIN 1ST GRADE ONE DAY GRAND FINAL **
** Sunday, 25 February 2024 **
After being runners up last year, the 1st XI have made amends and taken out the 2023/24 1st Grade One Day Grand Final.
Winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Bentley managed to post a competitive 161 off 39.5 overs. At one stage they were 7/98 and looking down the barrel of defending a low score. Jamie Rudrum 3/33, Ben Panter 2/28 and Gaurav Tiwari 2/29 the pick of the bowlers.
It wasn't a good start with the run chase losing two early wickets and being 2/3. Alex Chao (45) and Heshan Perera (36) steadied the ship and swung things our way. 2 more quick wickets in succession followed but in came Jamie Rudrum (39no) and Captain Jerra Smith (27) to put us on the right path. Jamie making sure of it in the end and taking the Man of the Match award with his 39no & 3/33.
Congratulations to all and thanks for everyone who came down to support the boys. We certainly outnumbered their supporters on their home ground. 👏👏🎉🐾
🏏 WEEKEND RESULTS 🏏
** 2ND XI CONTINUE THEIR DOMINANCE WITH THE BALL **
** Saturday, 2 & 9 March 2024 - in progress **
Round 12 – 1st, 2nd & 3rd XI
** Saturday, 2 March 2024 **
Round 16 – 4th XI
The 2nd XI has continued their rich vein of form with the ball rolling their opposition for 82 on day 1 of their last home and away game at Jones Paskin Reserve. Hassan Khadim was the destroyer this time ripping through the Murdoch University Melville batting order and finishing with 6/31 (off 17 overs). Josh Armitt (2/5 off 9 overs) and Johnny Budalich (2/25 off 10.2 overs) pitching in with a couple each. At stumps we are 1/12.
The 1st XI had a pretty good day in the field restricting the ladder leaders to 157. Captain Jerra Smith with a great bowling performance finishing with 5/26 (off 12 overs). Englishman Ben Panter amongst the wickets again also with 3/45. A shaky start has us 3/22 at stumps.
The 3rd XI toiled in the field today with their opposition Subiaco Marist posting a competitive total of 186. Jarred Plane (5/31) was damaging with the ball and Sanju Warnakulasuriya (2/26) and Tony Donatelli (2/32) helped out as well. An important run chase next week with the 3rd XI still not yet confirmed for finals.
The 4th XI has dropped the last 2 games (after winning 10 in a row) going down to Bentley today. Posting a modest 8/142 off their 40 overs it wasn’t enough and Bentley passed it with 4 wickets in hand. Nathan Ridgway (34) and Riley Pretty (30) put on an opening partnership of 72 but runs were hard to come by from there. Captain Milan Krebl tried his best with the ball and finished with 3/33. Confirmed to finish in 2nd place, the 4th XI will want to win their last game next week and move into the finals with some momentum.
