** DAVID MICHAEL MLA - MEMBER FOR BALCATTA **

David Michael grew up in Tuart Hill and is dedicated to serving the community. He has lived locally his entire life and went to Tuart Hill Primary School and Servite College. He is a life member of the North Perth Cricket Club, a board member of Tuart Hill Primary School, and a patron of the Osborne Park Bowling Club.

David studied Economics at the University of Western Australia and while at University he joined both the Australian Labor Party and the Australian Republican Movement.

At 25 years old, David was voted in as the youngest Councillor the City of Stirling has ever had. He held that role for 12 years, including two years as Deputy Mayor, before being elected to State Parliament as the Member for Balcatta in March 2017.

On Council, David fought for improved community facilities, upgraded parks and roads, new footpaths and the introduction of a modern recycling system, all while keeping the City of Stirling debt-free.

In 2021 David was appointed as the Cabinet Secretary and Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier after previously serving as the Government Whip in the Legislative Assembly for his first term of Parliament.

As the Member for Balcatta, David Michael is working hard to deliver real outcomes for local people. He is proud of the upgrades to Balcatta Senior High School and Osborne Park Hospital that have been delivered by the McGowan Government, and the ongoing works such as the major rebuild of Westminster Primary School and the job-creating Stephenson Avenue Extension.

We thank David for his continual valuable support of Balcatta Cricket Club.

🏏 SATURDAY RESULTS 🏏

** 3RD XI DOMINATE THEIR ROUND 2 MATCH **

** Saturday, 19 October 2024 **
Round 2 – 1st, 2nd and 3rd XI
Round 1 – 4th XI

In mixed results on the Saturday matches, the 3rd XI made it two from two to start the season with a dominate win against their opponents Swanbourne. Bowling first, Swanbourne were no match for an overall team bowling performance managing only 71 all out. Chris Giles continuing his early season form with 3/12. Henri Werndly (2/10), Jarred Plane (2/11) and Milan Krebl (2/18) the other major wicket takers. Despite losing an early wicket in the run chase, the target was reached easily with returning Callum Allan (39no) and AJ Singh (24no) making sure of the win.

Despite the 1st XI posting a defendable 8/186 off their 40 overs, Bassendean’s opening pair were too good in their run chase and helped them reach the total with plenty of overs to spare. A good spread of runs with the bat with Julian Lane (49), Heshan Perera (37), Alex Chao (30), Joel Handford (24) and Jerra Smith (22) the main highlights. Jera Smith (2/55) the multiple wicket taker with the ball.

The 2nd XI did a great job in the field first up restricting Bassendean to 145. An impressive 4 run outs, Johnny Budalich (3/39) and Alistair Laurie (2/27) doing all the damage. Unfortunately, the run chase did not go to plan with the home side managing only 101. Johnny Budalich (36) was the only highlight with the bat.

The 4th XI started their premiership defence with a hard-fought win against North Perth. North Perth were restricted to 123 batting first with Tony Donatelli (3/22), Junaid Chaudhry (2/22) and Boris Krebl (2/30) the main wicket takers. The target was reached with 5 wickets in hand and 12 overs to spare. Jacob Paolino (38no) the anchor of the innings and David Giuffre (27) making sure of the win.

Round 1 – Veterans XI & T20 Div 2 XI

The Veterans XI started well in their debut game in the Over 50's Focus Cricket Cup, restricting their opponent to 9/115 off their maximum 32 overs. Fawad Mahmood (3/8), Daniel Howes (3/13) and David Giuffre (2/20) the main wicket takers. Unfortunately, the weather took a turn for the worse at the beginning of the run chase with the Vet's XI on 0/12. The game was abandoned and points were shared. Their next game is on 24 Nov at Jones Paskin Reserve.

Earlier today, the T20 Div 2 XI started their season on a winning note with a convincing win against North Beach Carine. Batting first, they posted 2/168 off their 20 overs.
